Reading

Home at last is basically about a guy named Dinaw Mengestu, who was born in Ethiopia and moved to America with his family when he was 2 years old. I chose this piece because the author and I had, somewhat, the same experience the moment I moved to America. Since migrating here happened in just a blink of an eye, I was not comfortable at all. A also noticed how Philippines and America have a big difference, especially in each other’s culture. It was hard, for me, to adjust and get used to American’s culture. But this story made me realized that the community can be part of it even if people come from different countries. The most interesting part of this story was when DinawMengestu kept trying and looking for the right place to fit him.
